‘I know this’: Journalist who broke Luis Diaz news makes exciting claim for Liverpool fans

Pipe Sierra has taken to Twitter to share an update on Luis Diaz, which we believe will excite some Liverpool fans.

What’s the story?

Well, the Colombian journalist – who actually broke the news of the winger’s £37m move to Liverpool – believes supporters haven’t even seen 50% of what the 25-year-old is capable of.

Sierra added that he “knows” Diaz is excited for his first pre-season under Jürgen Klopp, and Liverpool fans should be as well – it could be a transformative summer for the South American.

Speaking on The Anfield Talk podcast, the journalist said: “I don’t think you’ve even seen 50% of Luis Diaz yet. He has so much more talent to explode with Jürgen Klopp as the coach. He’s excited for the pre-season, I know this.”

Diaz arrived at Anfield in January and hit the ground running in phenomenal fashion, with his efforts made all the more astounding by the fact he didn’t speak a word of English.

The Liverpool No.23 scored four goals in 13 Premier League outings, while also scoring two goals in the Champions League for the Reds.

The Colombia international also had no time whatsoever to adjust to Klopp’s tactical setup, although that didn’t stop him from being named in the starting XI for the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League final.

If Diaz was able to make an impact that rapidly, just imagine what he can do next term with a full pre-season under his belt.

Luis Diaz could make Liverpool forget about Sadio Mane

By the looks of it, Sadio Mane will be joining Bayern Munich this summer, as the Senegal international has just 12 months remaining on his contract.

It goes without saying that Liverpool will miss the 30-year-old, who has become a club legend during his time on Merseyside with 120 goals in 269 appearances.

However, if his performances in the second half of last season are anything to go off, Diaz could quickly make the Anfield faithful forget all about Mane.

The Colombian has limitless energy, a fearless desire to drive forward, and with 22 goals in all competitions last term, he appears to be just as prolific as Mane.

Only time will tell, but it seems Liverpool have overseen some excellent succession planning for their ageing – but iconic – frontline.
